　　The sense of joy in the crowds who gathered outside and across the country was profound.

　　聚集在白金漢宮外和全國(guó)各地民眾的喜悅是那么深切感人。

　　Though while we celebrated the victory in Europe, we knew there would be further sacrifice.

　　雖然我們?cè)跉W洲慶祝勝利，但深知世界各地還會(huì)有更多的犧牲。

　　It was not until August that fighting in the Far East ceased and the war finally ended.

　　直到八月份，遠(yuǎn)東地區(qū)的戰(zhàn)斗才停止，二戰(zhàn)終于結(jié)束了。

　　Many people laid down their lives in that terrible conflict.

　　許多人在那場(chǎng)可怕的戰(zhàn)事中失去了生命。

　　They fought so we could live in peace, at home and abroad.

　　他們奮勇戰(zhàn)斗，所以國(guó)內(nèi)外的我們才能過上和平的生活。

　　They died so we could live as free people in a world of free nations.

　　他們的犧牲，讓我們得以成為在自由國(guó)度里生活的自由之人。

　　They risked all so our families and neighbourhoods could be safe.

　　他們賭上一切，換來了我們家人和鄰里的安全。

　　We should and will remember them.

　　我們應(yīng)該也將會(huì)永遠(yuǎn)記住他們。

　　As I now reflect on my father's words and the joyous celebrations, which some of us experienced firsthand, I am thankful for the strength and courage that the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and all our allies displayed.

　　如今，回想起父親的話語(yǔ)，還有我們中的一些人親歷的慶�；顒�(dòng)，我對(duì)英國(guó)、英聯(lián)邦以及所有盟國(guó)表現(xiàn)的力量和勇氣深表感激。

　　The wartime generation knew that the best way to honour those who did not come back from the war was to ensure that it didn't happen again.

　　戰(zhàn)時(shí)的一代人知道，紀(jì)念那些沒有從戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)中歸來的人的最好辦法，就是確保戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)不再發(fā)生。

　　The greatest tribute to their sacrifice is that countries who were once sworn enemies are now friends, working side by side for the peace, health and prosperity of us all.

　　向他們的犧牲致敬的最佳方式，便是曾經(jīng)是死敵的國(guó)家現(xiàn)在成為朋友，并為了所有人的和平、健康和繁榮并肩努力。

　　Today, it may seem hard that we cannot mark this special anniversary as we would wish. Instead, we remember from our homes and our doorsteps.

　　今天，我們很難以自己所希望的方式慶祝這個(gè)特別的日子，而只能在家中或是家門口紀(jì)念。

　　But our streets are not empty, they are filled with the love and the care that we have for each other.

　　但我們的街道并不是空蕩蕩的，那里充滿了我們對(duì)彼此的愛和關(guān)懷。

　　And when I look at our country today and see what we are willing to do to protect and support one another, I say with pride that we are still a nation those brave soldiers, sailors and airmen would recognise and admire.
